I thought it would be fun to ride the Mississippi River levee from Marianna, AR, to Memphis, TN, for my birthday. My sister-in-law decided to join me. Both were bad ideas - the first one was on me, the second was on her. But we lived, and the stories will live on in our family for some time.

First snow of the year. So quiet and peaceful. It just so happened that one of my kids and her friends were out Christmas caroling that night and the only sounds I could hear were of them singing in the distance. I won't forget this night ride around my little town.
