REPRESENTATION MATTERS.

Students who are part of my team engage in Representation Research (R  ).

Broadly, we develop projects that explore what representation looks like, how it (or the lack of it) affects us, and how to increase representation of marginalized and minoritized identities in different spaces - especially schools.

Current Projects

  • Supporting people with disabilities who use service dogs

  • Developing a consultation model for helping school systems integrate service dogs

  • Operationally defining social justice so that socially just practices are "baked into" school psychology competencies

  • Developing a strengths-based MTSS approach to training school psychologists

Our lab is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students. We meet weekly to work on ongoing research. In addition to doing research, I am committed to mentoring students. We spend time talking about lots of topics, such as how to get into grad school, how to be a productive writer, how to give a killer presentation, how to pick a career path in psychology, and - of course - why school psychology is such a wonderful field.

Above and beyond our main purpose, lab is fun! We learn a lot about each other and there is always time for a good story and a laugh or two.

If you're interested in joining my lab, send me an email. Tell me a bit about who you are (e.g., year in school, major) and why you're interested. To maximize your experience, it's best to plan for a full year's commitment (i.e., fall and spring).

Below are some of our amazing lab mates.

I am interested in doing research that emphasizes diversity and inclusion within the classroom. Particularly, I like to learn about how culture impacts accessibility and success within schools for marginalized populations like students with disabilities, LGBTQ+ students, BIPOC students, and ELL students.

My future plans include pursuing my Ph.D. in School Psychology and working with children with a multitude of diagnoses in a variety of settings. I hope to specifically work with children who have experienced interpersonal trauma and find the most impactful ways to improve their quality of education.

I am interested in doing research surrounding minority groups and the implicit biases that individuals hold toward those groups. Right now I am interested in looking at the impact that names have on biases. After graduate school, I hope to work as a school psychologist and advocate for students in the classroom.

My research interests involve discrimination, unfairness towards the LGBTQIA community, the issues surrounding that population and LGBT families. My research interests also involve Child abuse and trauma. How we can help those who have gone through abuse and how can we make the environment a bit fear free for them. I want to specialize in working with the LGBTQIA population as well as children who have been abused  in the future. I want to also focus on depression, anxiety, and suicide risk among all populations.
